NERO consists of a high speed core network with hubs in Portland, Corvallis,
and Eugene. The core hub sites are fully interconnected at DS3 (45Mb/s) or higher.
Our partners aggregate traffic from their various networks and interconnect
to NERO at one of the three NERO hub sites. Partner equipment may be
colocated at the Portland and Eugene hubs, or the partner's hub site may be
connected to one of the NERO hub sites via a telco circuit.
NERO provides internet transit connectivity for our partners via a DS3 to
Cable & Wirless from the Eugene hub, and two DS3s to UUNET WorldCom from
the Portland hub. In addition, NERO is a member of the Oregon IX. Traffic
between NERO's partners and other members of the Oregon IX is routed via the
IX, thus saving bandwidth on the internet transit connections.
